Relational Intelligence in a Time of AI
How to Develop the Human Capacities Required to Navigate a New Age
The rise of Artificial Intelligence will lead to change at unprecedented levels. What does that mean for the human being?
While there are efficiency benefits that come from AI development, there are also countless risks and threats that require wisdom and discernment to navigate appropriately. The key question remains: What is the human being? And how do we double down on our humanness when technological forces pull us in the opposite direction?
One of the key challenges and risks of AI in its current form is its anthropomorphic nature, which mimics human-to-human interaction. Human attachment is being hijacked, which leads to a risk of widespread relational atrophy: the weakening of our capacity to attune, repair and stay present with one another. As more of our communication and work is mediated by (or even replaced by) machines that simulate relationship, our relational capacities are being put to the test. Being able to withstand these forces and to provide spaces of relational safety will be crucial in the years and decades to come.
In this talk we will explore:
The nature of human attachment and why it is crucial for human development, maturity and wisdom
The risks of relational atrophy when AI takes over work and communication and the danger of extended relating to anthropomorphic AI
Practices and frameworks for developing relational intelligence in home and in the workplace
Participants will leave with:
Individual practices to strengthen relational intelligence as leaders and human beings
